Company History
Aurele M. Gatti, company founder, started his career specializing in the manufacture of miniature precision sapphire products while living in Switzerland and Coventry, England. In 1910, Mr. Gatti came to the United States where he was employed by the Dictaphone Company as a specialist in miniature components. By early 1916, Mr. Gatti had relocated to Trenton, NJ, and began manufacturing various industrial sapphire products including jewel bearings under his own company. In 1922, this new company was officially incorporated as Aurele M. Gatti, Inc. and continues today at the same location. During WWII, the company operated under contract with the Department of Defense for the manufacture of strategic items such as jewel bearings for use in aircraft instruments and electrical measuring equipment. During the war mobilization effort, the company was the recipient of several awards from the DOD including the Army-Navy "E" award for manufacturing excellence. In 1972, the company became heavily involved in the design and manufacture of precision sapphire orifice jewels for the emerging high-pressure waterjet industry. This design, engineering, and manufacturing effort has continued for the past 34 years resulting in numerous patents for high-pressure waterjet nozzle design. We are innovators, not replicators. Original Gatti waterjet designs are now commonplace industry standard mounts. We constantly strive to advance waterjet technology by developing innovative and novel new products. All of our products are manufactured and assembled in-house at our Trenton, NJ, facility. We currently run thirteen CNC lathes, three 5-axis CNC vertical machining centers, a brand new high-rail waterjet cutting table (4' x 8'), and a multitude of other manual machining equipment. We are also continuously updating our machining capability with new, more advanced equipment. In addition to the machine shop, we have an extensive jewel finishing and inspection department. We visually inspect our jewels under 200X magnification, using Nomarski DIC lighting on custom designed Nikon microscopes. We also polish our sapphire orifices in-house to ensure consistent quality and finish. Because of our extensive machining capability, we have thousands of orifice assemblies in stock at all times, in addition to other products. We are also fully equipped for small parts heat-treating, sandblasting and beadblasting, precision grinding, and flat polishing. In addition, we run three waterjet intensifiers every day pressure testing each High-Cohesive orifice assembly that we manufacture. We have more than 83 years of experience in manufacturing products for various industries. Count on us for consistent quality, exceptional performance, and quick delivery every time! |
